side-by-side system specification comparison. The Sony PS3 appears to be
the most powered system of the three based on the initial specs, but it's to
early to really say until the production system are released. Take note
that the specs haven't been finalized by any of the respective console
companies, but as new information is available we will update this matrix. So

Doesnt the PS3 stand vert or horizontally too? remember when all the people were talking about it looking like a george forman grill when it was horizontal, then in the pic that you have it is vertical.

Look, it is really between PS3 and XBOX 360. There is no clear winner unitl PS3 is released then we will say. I am a PS3 fan, though and I see that it is looking the better system spec-wise. 2 Tflops to 1? That's double! Plays more variation than xbox (more CDs,DVDs etc.), is fully backwards compatible, supports 7 wireless cons, compared to 4, sends images to 2 TVs at once, has better resolution support, has a better game line up (Gran Turismo Vision, MGS4, Killzone 2, I-8, War Craft, The Getaway, Final Fantasy, GTA, Resident Evil 5, Motor cross etc.) whereas the xbox doesn't have these games at launch lol. And probably some of them never. We have the major games companies to put the power to good use, the aim for PS3 games is 120fps (looks like it will happen), has many online features (should be improved from PS2 and they are getting help from top computer companies) and to top it off, doesn't have ancient looking SNES style memory slots (has none), and is available in 3 colours on release (white, silver or black), oh and the specs are clearly better (and they haven't revealed ALL of them). No dispespect, xbox is powerful, but his company microsoft piss me off because they make comps. that crash etc. gates' can't handle sony taking the glory and had to make an xbox. Oh my...
Oh yes and also, the xbox has 3 cores(?) at 3.2 GHz each, the PS3 has 7 core each at 3.2 GHz working together (each core working on a particulat aspect of the game e.g. background processes, effects, lighting, animation etc.) which annihilates xbox. Why get 3/7 the power???

I think all of the consoles have prospects, although I do favor PS3 and revolution (revolution more so) becasue I want to look at the games we play.
I get the impression Microsoft are in it for quick money, they've seen a market, they churned out some power to lure in these rich kids to buy the console, however haven't taken into consideration the games.
Although Sony and Nintendo are taking different approaches to the console, they are still more about the games, and are biding their time to give us consoles that have the games we want to play. Of course people have their oppinions, some are just in it for the power (my dads bigger than your dad, my graphics are better than your graphics)but for me it's about the games, and if everyone buys a GAMES console for GAMES, stick with Nintendo, who will instantly have hundreds of classics for you to play, as well as some new ones that will be unmissable (that conroller is genius).

The side by side comparison clearly shows the PS3 beating the other consoles in every category (granted Revolution's specifications are incomplete). Now I know that consoles are designed to play games but the point with this new generation of consoles is to streamline all of your media(video, pictures, games, etc.) into a single system (like a PC). The PS3 has the potential to blow away not only the console market but the PC market as well. PS3, according to early reports, will be parallelizable which has enormous implications for computing (i.e. massively parallel systems that could be used to work on complex scientific problems not just games).
PS Before any of you start accusing me of being a fanboy I would like to point out that I own an Xbox and I am a big PROPONENT of Microsoft. As for Nintendo I will be honest with you I; I am VERY biased. I have never personally liked Nintendo products. They are rather infantile and inferior to their contemporaies (unless you go back to the good old days of SNES and even then I was a Genesis man). With this said, I am simply looking at this from an objective point of view and to me PS3 is going to usher in the next generation of computing.

holy freakin bananas I heard the ps3 is going to be 499 and if you want the full set than its 599 who ever is willing to pay that is fucking insane. I'm not on the 360's side but the most expensive that I've seen them is 399. The rev (now known as Wii) is going to be somewhere around 249. Like I said before who ever is willing to pay 599 for the ps3 is blinded by fanboyism I'm a nintendo fan but if a nintendo console ever went up that high I wouldn't buy it. because money can be used on other stuff than just video games hell you could buy 4 ipods with 599. i've made my point :(
